Terms of use
Updated 27 October 2026
We’ve translated these terms for your convenience. If this translation and the English version differ, the English version applies.
SCRAM is a hide-and-seek game you play outdoors with friends, each on your own phone. These terms are the agreement between you and Moveera Pty Ltd, the Australian company that runs SCRAM (“we”, “us”). By making a SCRAM account or signing in, you agree to them.
The short version
- Play safe: watch for traffic, stay off private property, and follow the law.
- Be decent. There’s zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, threats, hate or sexual content, on Radio or in names.
- Report anyone who breaks the rules. We act on every report within 24 hours, and we remove people who break them.
- Hosting is a one-time purchase. Joining a friend’s game is free.
Who can use SCRAM
You need to be at least 13, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for using an app like SCRAM without a parent’s permission (in some countries it’s 16). If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
Your account
Use your own email address and keep your phone secure, because anyone with it can play as you. One account is for one person. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
The rules
Everything you put in SCRAM, including Radio messages (text or voice), your name and your username, has to follow these rules. Don’t:
- abuse, harass, bully or threaten anyone
- post hate speech or slurs, or attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexuality or anything else about who they are
- post sexual or violent content
- pretend to be someone else, or to be SCRAM
- share someone’s personal details without their permission
- use a game to follow, find or meet someone who hasn’t agreed to it
- spam, cheat by tampering with the app or our server, or try to get at anyone else’s account
- use SCRAM for anything illegal
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive players. SCRAM filters out offensive words, but filters miss things, so we rely on players to tell us. We look at every report within 24 hours. If something breaks these rules, we remove it, and we can ban the account behind it, straight away and without warning. A banned player can’t host, join or use Radio, and making a new account doesn’t get round it.
Reporting and blocking
To report or block another player, press and hold their message in Radio, or tap them in the lobby. A blocked player can’t join games you host, and you don’t see their Radio messages. You can unblock them in Settings. The host can also take a player out of the lobby before the round starts.
You can also report a username you see on a leaderboard, right from the board.
You can always email us at hello@scramhideandseek.com. If anyone is in danger, call your local emergency number: 000 in Australia, 911 in the US and Canada, 112 in Europe.
Playing safe
SCRAM is played on real streets, and you’re responsible for your own safety and for following the law while you play. Watch for traffic and don’t play near busy roads, stay off private property and out of places you’re not allowed, and don’t play anywhere unsafe. Play with people you know, and keep your phone with you. Hosts set up the game, but each player decides for themselves where it’s safe to go.
Your location
During a round, SCRAM shares your location with players in your game, as the game’s rules allow. The privacy policy says exactly who sees what, and when. Only join games with people you’re happy to share your location with.
Leaderboards
Leaderboard points have to come from real rounds, played the way the game works. Faking your location, setting up rounds just to rack up points, or playing on more than one account to climb a board is cheating. We can take points away, or take a player off the leaderboards, for cheating or for a username that breaks the rules.
Hosting
Hosting games is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. It belongs to your SCRAM account, and you can restore it on any phone you sign in on. Apple and Google take the payment and handle refunds, under their own terms.
What’s ours and what’s yours
SCRAM, its name, logo and app are ours. We give you a personal licence to use the app for playing SCRAM, under these terms. The names and messages you put in SCRAM stay yours, and you let us store and show them to the players in your games, so the game can run. Games, including their Radio messages, are deleted 7 days after they’re made.
Ending things
You can stop playing and delete your account at any time in Settings. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We may also change SCRAM, or stop running it, and if we stop it for good, we’ll tell you first.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep SCRAM running and accurate, but it depends on GPS, mobile signal and other people’s phones, so we can’t promise it will always work or be exact. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for injury, loss or damage that comes from playing, or from what other players do. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have that the law says can’t be excluded, under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer laws of the country where you live.
Apple and Google
These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. If you got SCRAM from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it and these terms differ, it wins. If you got SCRAM from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply.
Changes
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Playing after that means you accept the new terms.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and disputes go to its courts. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of any laws there that an agreement can’t override, and you can take a claim to your local courts where those laws allow it.
